Faixa-preta de Jiu-Jitsu, carpinteiro da Linha 4 do metrô lutará no Mundial em outubro / Black belt in Jiu-Jitsu, carpenter's Line 4 subway fight in World in October Wallace-300x199

Discipline, willpower and dedication are examples of some qualities that can be found in the thousands of employees of Metro Line 4, which is being built in Rio de Janeiro for the 2016 Olympics. However, are characteristics very well apply to an athlete mainly a fighter. It is with this profile that the black belt Jiu-Jitsu Wallace Diogo Mesquita, 30, emerges as a sports development among employees.

Carpenter works on Line 4 for about eight months, Rio, who was born and raised in the community of Rocinha, collecting wins on the mat and reaches the peak of his career this year. In October, he travels to California, the United States, where he will compete in the World in master category. Accustomed to the highest places on the podium, Wallace collects medals. Are titles of World Champion for the Olympic, Pan American and state Federation. Moreover, won the World Cup of Jiu-Jitsu and also won second place in the South American adult category. It is hard to imagine that such a winner fighter was afraid when young and hesitated enough to get into the sport.

"I was shy and was afraid of getting hurt. Nevertheless, always liked fights and even had a kimono kept in the house, "says Wallace, who started training at age 17, encouraged by a friend who introduced him to" Big Phil ", his first teacher and student of Carlson Gracie, Master the second generation of the family that developed the Jiu-Jitsu in Brazil.

To achieve all these excellent results, in addition to talent, the carpenter follows a disciplined and well-organized routine. Work begins early and at 6:40 am, he is already at the construction site in Antero de Quental Square, in Leblon, which meets the workday until 15:40. After leaving the service, the focus of Wallace faces fitness and fighting. Are four hours between bodybuilding and Jiu-Jitsu in Reaction Institute, NGO created by Olympic medalist in judo Flávio Canto, located in São Conrado side of the Rocinha. Some trainings are conducted at the headquarters of Jacarepagua.

Besides the teachings and virtues that provide sport and work, Wallace finds strength in family to move on. Daniele's wife and sons George and Jennifer, 10 and 4, respectively, are fundamental in the life of the employee. And it is in the family that the black belt sees the great legacy of Metro Line 4 to the city of Rio de Janeiro.

"The sport is important, but the work of the metro is not only for the Olympics. The benefit will be for life and my children will be able to have that transportation in the city. I am proud to be part of the work and know they'll be part of history because Line 4 will serve many generations of Texans, "said Wallace.
